Seneca Stone was founded by Bob Mittelstaedt in 2004 and serves clients within Toronto and the GTA.

 

Bob attended Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario, and apprenticed with two leading Swiss stone masons in the 1970's. He departed the Peterborough area after a few years of work to start his own landscaping business and further his craft. Bob founded several different landscaping and construction companies in Toronto. This put Bob in touch with many of Toronto's finest landscape architects, builders, and contractors. In the late 1990's it became clear to Bob that he wanted to specialize in stone masonry, so he founded Seneca Stone in 2004.

 

In order to control the overall appearance of the landscapes Bob was working on, he felt it was necessary to branch out into other areas of landscaping, including: water features, plant materials, wood-working, and outdoor living. Offering these additional services provided clients with the option of only working with one contractor, instead of multiple, to achieve the desired landscape they had in mind for their home. This was a big game changer for the company and for each of the client Seneca Stone has served.
